Features to know about

Full Access Without Unloading: 180-Degree Swing-Away Design

The AfterParty makes reaching your gear easy even with bikes loaded. Its hinged arm swings a full 180 degrees from the hitch, locking in place so you can open rear doors or hatches without wrestling bikes out of the way. Closing it is just as simple—swing it back until the spring pin clicks, tighten the T-handle, and you’re ready to roll. For anyone tired of unloading bikes just to grab something from the back, this setup is a game changer.

Built for Heavy Rides: 60 lb Capacity Per Bike

Each tray supports up to 60 lbs, giving e-bikes and heavier builds solid footing. With room for 2 bikes and a 55" maximum wheelbase, it can handle everything from carbon frames to electric rides with confidence. The steel and aluminum body keeps flex to a minimum while a black powder coat finish resists corrosion for long-term use.

Secure and Scratch-Free: Wheel-Only Mounting System

The upright arms grab each bike by the wheels—no frame contact, no scuffs. Pre-marked bridges make it easy to line up for 20"–29" wheels, while grooved trays fit tire widths up to 3". Because the grooves run the full length of each tray, you can shift bikes side to side to keep handlebars clear and avoid contact between bikes.

Smooth Operation in Tight Spaces: Front Handle for Tilt and Fold

A front-mounted release lever lets you tilt or fold the rack without awkward reaching or juggling bike weight. The rack tilts down with both bikes loaded, perfect for quick access at trailheads or parking lots, and folds up compactly when you’re done riding. The 70-lb carrier weight keeps it stable yet manageable for one person to handle.

Locks Included for Peace of Mind: Bikes and Rack Stay Put

Security comes built in with the AfterParty. A threaded anti-rattle hitch pin keeps things tight and includes a lock that secures the rack itself. A 10 mm square-link chain, wrapped in nylon, threads through your bike frames and locks into a hidden core on the rack’s front. Both locks are keyed alike, so one key secures everything on the trip.

The bike rack is a quality product regarding the construction and thoughtful features. I was glad to once again experience etrailer's excellent customer service due its professional and knowledgeable staff.

by:

Less than 10 minutes to install. Great design and functionality. Lock chain is awesome. Elevates rack off of ground at an angle so works great on my Honda CRV.

by:

Excellent product. Good price. Quick sh ipping.

by:

Solid product.

by:

Better than my previous 1UP USA rack.

by:

It will be difficult to find this quality at a better price. Amazing bang for the buck performance. gets the job done reliably

by:

Easy set up, Quik bike attachment and release , looks good , quality looks good

by:

This was so easy to assemble and install on my new Maverick! My partner and I did a short ride at Brown County state park to try it out before doing 14 miles on the People Trail in Columbus today. Makes taking our bikes on the road super easy.

by:

Amazing customer service. Always had a great experience with E trailer and this time was no acception. Amazing.

by:

Snagged this rack up on sale. Was looking at a more expensive alternative that was double the price. Coming from Thule and 1up, this rack is much better and has some very helpful features. It’s built very well and looks great.

by:

Great bike rack! Easy to install and quickly mount/unmount bikes. Only downside is the rack is heavy to lift and move.

by:

Very good, easy to use and set up. Also very secure and sturdy.

by:

Excellent bike rack. My only small complaint is that the tailgate hits it when opened but as long as you lower the rack first, it won't hit.

by:

I’ve used several different hitch-mounted bike racks over the years. The cost of the RockyMounts GuideRail spooked me initially, however while putting it together I could clearly see that the quality is undeniable. The rack is really easy to assemble and use. The locking hitch bolt jam feature keeps the rack from jiggling and my 55-pound 29-inch enduro ebike fits securely in the wheel mounts. The included security chain is very heavy-duty and the integrated lock, which uses the same key as the included hitch pin is a really nice feature. If you have a shell on your pickup or if you have a van or SUV, you might need a hitch extension to keep wide handle bars away from the vehicle on the inside rail. My pickup tailgate can be lowered with the rack in the all the way down position, but it makes contact when lowered with the rack in the mid position. Check your application for clearance before lowering your tailgate with the rack installed on your vehicle. I did a bit of searching and etrailer had the lowest price with the quickest free shipping on this rack at the time.

by:

Excellent rack doesn’t wobble at all. Holds the bikes firmly in place.

by:

This is by far the best bike accessories purchase I have made. This thing is rock solid when heading down the road.

Very solid and sturdy, but compact.

Ashley was the best representative I have ever dealt with with any business

Thank You

Heavy AF and would drop in the outboard position...had to lift a needed to close. The positioning pins/latch mechanisms were sketchy...sold it after a few months.

by:

Works great, Easy to secure bike on and to take off rack. Small problem, weather cover for lock does not stay in closed position. The lock to secure ramp to receiver hitch is poor quality. I purchased a much better locking pin from Amazon

I expected a great product and somehow was still impressed! I'm coming from 5 years with my RockyMounts Monorail which has remained solid here in the salty NorthEast roads (with minor lube and cleaning). I wanted a swing-out for a while now so that i could fully utilize my bed drawers when camping. The ease of use and build quality on this rack is everything I had hoped for. Installation took about 15 minutes.

Pros:
- Easy to use for loading/unloading bikes compared to the 1UP system where you definitely need two hands at all times
- Easy to use swing-out feature with double locks for added security
- Fantastic fit and finish all around

Cons:
- My rack came with three small nicks on it from the shipping process. RockyMounts should revise the packaging so this doesn't happen to other customers. I'll email them
- The screw-in lock for the swing-out works well but I believe a latch system would be much easier (similar to the Kuat swing-out)
- No decals/branding? When in the upright position there isn't any branding of the rack. It's all just plain black. A white "RockyMounts" decal would look great!

See attached videos for fitment on a 2020 Toyota Tacoma using a Kuat Hi-Lo 7" or 10" Hitch Extender. It clears the tailgate by about 4mm in the 7" extension! If this is too close for comfort, you can extend it to 10" for plenty of clearance.

A year later and no major issues. Im still very impressed by this rack. I did run into a bolt becoming bent not caused by any outside damage which I reached out to RockyMounts for. The biggest disappointment was their customer service. They not only were unhelpful but they accused me of damaging the rack. After providing two emails with photos proving there was no damage, they reluctantly decided to send me a replacement bolt from another rack. This is a proprietary bolt so not something I could source locally. Again, the product so far has been great, but their customer service is absolutely terrible. ETrailer on the other hand has gone above and beyond!

I just went with this myself, and I think it's just about perfect for a Ford Transit. I will attach some photos, but what makes it such a nice fit is that the handlebars are far enough away to not hit the back, the swing arm is enough to open back doors (with one comment I will make later). Very quick and easy to secure bikes. Also, the only place it grabs your bikes is the tires, so no damage anywhere else. (This does mean that it will not work with many rear fenders. But it would work with the "mudflap" style of a mountain bike)

The swing away will allow both doors to open. However, if you still have bikes on the racks the door will not quite hit the detent that keeps the passenger side open. The handlebars will just barely interfere. In this can I either hold it open, or remove the bikes.

It also comes with an overkill lock that's very easy to use.

As you might guess, the rear parking sensors are not operative, so I do have to disable them every time I reverse. Heres a selection of photos I just took. Still snow here in Minnesota!

Still working great at 1 year. Bikes on the back for 3000 miles with no problem. I added a cargo rack to the back of one bikein my case it was wide enough for the AfterParty tire clamp to fit inside. PS: Replaced the overkill lock chain with a 4 ft long 5mm cablefits in the receiver perfectly.

by:

Well built, easy to use. Solid. Installation was simple. Assembly instructions could have a been a bit more concise or at least better diagrams. But that’s where YouTube saves the day. Tested the swing away with two enduro mountain bikes on a fair bit of grade (enough for my beer to fall over on the tailgate) and it performed well. Price is steep, but works for my F150 nicely.

  • E-Bike Rack Recommendation that Could Possibly Carry an 85 lb Bike
Hey Dixie! Thanks for the kind words from a fellow Missourian! So your situation is kind of tough for a single bike rack solution as we technically do not have a bike rack that can carry an 85 lb bike at this time. The highest rated option is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider part # HLY84FR which has an 80 lb per bike rating. So this could work with your 85 lb e-bike only if you took the battery out and it weighed more than 5 lb. There isn't a swing away option for this rack either. Does...

  • What Bike Rack Options do I Have if I Want to be Able to Lower My Tailgate?
Hello John. For lowing a tailgate, I definitely recommend going with a swing away. The RockyMounts BackStage # RKY10002 is a great bike rack and will get the job done, but it is not your only option. If you were to get the Saris Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # SAR36VR you could use any bike rack that uses a 2" receiver. The Yakima EXO Swing Away 2-Bike Rack - Wheel Mount - 2" Hitches # Y92VR is also a great rack as far as a swing -away option, there are some...

As the RockyMounts AfterParty # RKY37ZR will only swing away to the passenger side you might consider the Kuat Pivot 2 # PVD20B which you can use with a Kuat Bike Rack # NV22B. This combination will swing to the drivers side.

  • Can RockyMounts AfterParty Bike Rack be Adapted For 4 Inch Tires
Hi Rose, The RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away Bike Rack # RKY37ZR cannot be adapted for 4 inch tires, though we do have an option for a swingaway bike rack that will work with tires that large: - RockyMounts BackStage Bike Rack # RKY10002 The BackStage # RKY10002 is compatible with tires up to 5 inches wide, and like the AfterParty it has a 60 lb per-bike capacity so it can carry heavy bikes.

  • Can Bikes with Fender Fit on RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away Bike Rack
Yes and no. The RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away Bike Rack # RKY37ZR can be used if your bike has a smaller fender, but if it's a larger fender that covers most of the tire then it won't work as the clamps will damage the fenders. I'm attaching a photo showing some bikes on the rack so you can see about where the clamps will sit on your tires.

  • Availability of Loading Ramp for RockyMounts Bike Rack on 2018 Sprinter
Hi Deborah; it may be possible to make a ramp from another brand work with your RockyMounts bike rack but there are no ramps specifically made by them and it depends on the exact model. I typically recommend swapping for a bike rack that comes with a ramp or has one for that particular model. If you have the RockyMounts AfterParty # RKY37ZR you were looking at you could trade it out for the Kuat Piston Pro # KU76ZR or Inno Tire Hold HD # IN25RR. Both of these have ramps you can add separately....

  • Could RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away Work on Ford Transit and Clear
I wish we had ability to do that but we haven't had the chance to do so and we don't have a vehicle nearby we could just grab. Unless the hitch of your Transit van is really far recessed under our rear bumper or your bikes have abnormally long handlebars I do not see how the RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # RKY37ZR wouldn't work for you though. It has a solid amount of clearance from the hitch pin hole to the nearest bike tray center.

  • How Much Rear Clearance Does The RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away Bike Rack # RKY37ZR Have?
The RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away Bike Rack # RKY37ZR is going to be 7-1/2" when folded up from the hitch pin center hole to the closest tray on the rack. With the rack laid down for loading bikes the tray for the first bike is going to be roughly 16" from the hitch pin center hole. With these measurements you will be able to check and ensure if you will have the clearance needed on your Sprinter van with the rear spare tire rack.

Hey Laura, There is a swing-away rack you can use with the Allant+ 7s Stagger that has the rear fender but not the RockyMounts AfterParty # RKY37ZR. The rear wheel holder won't be compatible with the fender at all, as its not able to secure a rack via the frame or fender - it simply won't offer the necessary stability. I have an option for you that has a ramp, but the RockMounts AfterParty # RKY37ZR is not compatible with a ramp. The RockyMounts Afterparty part # RKY37ZR has 7-1/2 inches from it's hitch pin hole to the nearest portion of the rack when folded, but since this dimension is on a much lower portion of the rack and is very small it would not interfere with the rear spare of your RAV4.

Hello Kris, Welcome to etrailer! I'm glad you found us. Your question makes perfect sense, especially if you've never had a hitch installed before. There is some trimming of the underbody panel, which is a normal part of the installation, but there are no modifications made...
